Many things in life cause us to feel heavy. That list is long and profound…and it’s easy to stay in that place. It’s amazing how limiting those external factors can be on your mindset and the fact that it’s also pretty subtle. Before you know it, you feel like the weight is too much to push in any direction. Can’t even pinpoint when or where it happened, but there’s something (or a few things) that led to an allostatic load of stress that got away from me and couldn’t be managed.
Gotta’ admit that 2018 wasn’t my favorite year. Injuries and disapointing work outcomes got in the way of who I wanted to be. But I’m VERY excited about 2019. Internally, my big goal is to exercise every single day, 365 in a row. So far, day 5 is going well! Start strong, right? I’m a firm believer that what you do every day matters way more than what you do occassionally. I know there will be fantastic outcomes as a result of this commitment and I’m ok with not having a specific race or similar as a goal. Also made a big commitment to Camp Gladiator which makes me feel like a rock star every time I leave. As a family, we are going to visit 12 new parks in the area – one every month. It’s a research project for my kids as a tool for teaching them how to use technology in a way that does not involve playing games with devices. Twelve new parks in 2019!
Externally, I start a new job next week! I’m super excited about it and I can’t wait to begin. I’m getting back to health education and will be using my 20+ years experience and education in a way that I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to connect with again. I didn’t realize how hard it would be if I took time away to be a parent; wasn’t sure I could ever get back to it again but here I am!
