About two years ago we had a bike trainer. In one of my waves of “get rid of all the crap in the garage” we sold it. And recently I realized I needed it again if I was serious about doing 5 triathlons in 2016.
I looked on Craigslist for about 2 months and found one! “Norman” now has a sexy new residence in the corner of my dining room. Thanks to YouTube there are lots of cycling scenery videos to watch via my iPad on the other corner. I rode 30min yesterday morning & will ride again tomorrow morning. It’s definitely different than riding outside so I need to build up some time on this thing.
It’s interesting how solving one problem creates another – now I realized I need aerobars. It’s always something, right? Next it’s a new bike, a Garmin, new shoes, a wetsuit……..well, the wetsuit is coming in January so that’s a definite.
Can’t remember exactly when, but sometime in 2013 I started using Map My Run (walk mostly, some bike, very little running documented). Here’s a screenshot after my last walk yesterday measuring my total time & distance since I started. I passed 1,000 miles, over 155,000 calories, and over 369 hours documented. “Documented” is the key here as I didn’t record much this summer, and I’ve never recorded any swims or any gym workouts. So this is really just walk-ride-run cardio.
Time passes whether you’re working towards goals or not…getting stronger or weaker… Now is the time, right! ? I’m starting January with a “hundred” challenge for 30 days. Every day I’ll do at least 100 abs. Do it with me!
